July 2006 Offer Sheet

BARITE, Mianyang Prefecture, Sichuan, Southwest Region, China. 2" by 2" matrix pieces with lots of sharp, well-terminated flat crystals of brownish-yellow color, from a recent find for $20, and a couple of bigger pieces for $30 and $48.

GMELINITE PSEUDOMORPH AFTER CHABAZITE, Pinnacle Rocks, Five Islands, Nova Scotia, Canada. 2" by 1" matrix pieces with pretty peach-color crystals for $24.

MIMETITE & CALCITE, Santa Eulalia District, Chihuahua, Mexico. Small balls of light greenish-yellow mimetite with small clear calcite crystals, on earthy matrix, about 2" by 2" to 3" by 2" for $26 and $32. From an old collection, collected years ago.

CHRYSOCOLLA, L'Etoile du Congo Mine, Lubumbashi, Shaba Copper Belt, Shaba, Congo. Bright blue, lustrous massive chrysocolla on matrix about 2.5" by 3.5" for $16 and $20; 4" by 4" for $40; bigger for $60, $70 and $80. “Bright” doesn’t begin to describe the blue color!

METEORITES, Sikhote-Alin, Russia, our April 2004 featured mineral (Kamacite). Pieces from the meteorite that fell to Earth at 10:30 AM, February, 1947–perhaps some remember hearing about it when it happened? We have small 1" by .5" pieces for $20, and larger pieces about 2" by 1" for $32. We have bigger pieces, too, call or E-mail for details in you’re interested. We featured these in April 2004, so we have a fascinating, in-depth write-up to go with them.

ENHYDRO AGATE, Fontuero Xavier, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, polished pieces of beautifully banded agate with water trapped inside! This is the same mineral fluid from which the agate crystallized. Each piece has bands of translucent gray and other colors, and when held to a light, you can easily see the water sloshing around inside. We have smaller pieces about 1" by ¾” for $12, pieces about 1½" by 1” to 1¼” for $16, and larger pieces about 2" by 1½” for $20.

TOURMALINE SLICES, Russia. Thin, polished slices of mostly translucent pink with some clear areas. These are suitable as specimens or even for jewelry. Slices about 2" by 1.5" for $40, and 2" by 2" for $80.

STIBNITE, Wuling Antimony Mine, Jiangxi Province, China, our February 1998 mineral. Blades of metallic gray stibnite with terminations, no matrix, about 3" to 3.5" long and .25" to .5" thick for $48, and a couple with two blades for $60.

FOSSIL TURRITELLA SHELLS, Touraine, France, on matrix. Large but not complete shell fossils, over 2.5" to 3", on 4" by 4" matrix, for $36 and $40.

FOSSIL ECHINODERMS, Helvetia, Tours, France. 2.5" diameter sand dollar fossil on light-colored sandstone matrix for $40 and $54; large matrix with echinoderms for $250.

CELESTINE, Sakoany Mine, Madagascar, our December 2000 mineral, so plentiful then, but now hard to find in good quality. Light blue crystals on matrix about 3" by 4" for $22 and $26.

OPTICAL CALCITE, Brazil, almost-clear pieces that show birefringence, or double refraction, i.e., the decomposition of one ray of light into two rays, one of calcite’s unique properties. These are cleaved from large masses and show the rhombohedral form of calcite. 2.5" by 2" pieces for $14, and larger for $22.50.

GYPSUM, VARIETY SELENITE, Red River Floodway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, our May 2001 featured mineral. These have two growths of gypsum: The initial ball-shaped cluster of crystals jutting out from a central clay core, and then a twinned pair of translucent light yellow crystals growing on the original ball! These are also fluorescent and phosphorescent. And the accompanying write-up has all the details. These specimens are hard to remove without damaging them, so all have slight scuffs. Small balls about 1" with a 1" twin growing on top for $30 and $44, by quality; larger balls about 2" by 2" with 1" crystals on top for $48, $60, and $80, by quality; and the best of the lot for $120.

AUGELITE, Rapid Creek area, Yukon, Canada. We have 4 (relatively) large specimens of this rare phosphate, matrix about 3" by 2" with lots of lovely little light green crystals for $64, and slight larger for $72 and $96.

HEMIMORPHITE, Wen Shan, Yunnan Province, China. Bright blue botryoidal covering matrix, with the faces of the minute individual crystals sparkling in bright light! Since this is a new and pretty find of a rare mineral, pieces are a little more expensive. 5" by 2.5" for $44, and 6" by 3" for $80 and $90. And one 6" piece with darker blue balls for $150.

SMOKY QUARTZ, Saline Valley, Inyo County, CA, in pairs of left- and right-handed crystals about 1½” long mounted on a styrofoam base for $12, with larger pairs for $18.

RHODOCHROSITE from the Sweet Home Mine, Alma, Colorado–another new lot from this famous, now-closed mine. Crystals with high quality color and crystal form on and off matrix from $150 to $1000. We also picked out some faceted stones and cabochons–call for details.

JET, Mongolia. We are one of the few sources for this rare lightweight black stone, related to coal. We have 1 pound bags of tumble-polished stones for $26, and for those who might want it in bulk, 4.4 pound (2-kilo) bags for $88. We have three size ranges: Small, about 1" by 1" to 1.5" by 1.5"; Medium, about 1.5" by 1.5" to 2" by 2"; and Large, about 2" by 2" to 3" by 2.5", so let us know if you want a certain size, or just a mix. It’s light, so you get lots for your money!

JET BEADS, Mongolia. We have several new jet beads styles available at low prices. You can see these on our web site or call us for sizes and prices.

BENITOITE, the California state gemstone–we received a new lot of crystals with great color and form on matrix. Now that the mine is closed, these specimens should stay high in value. We have excellent, nice-sized specimens from $350 to $500– call or E-mail for more info.

CHRYSOCOLLA, Copiapo, Chile. 2" by 2" specimens with bright blue chrysocolla covered with drusy quartz for $16; larger, up to 3½” by 2½” without the drusy quartz, for $20 and $24.

EPIDOTE, Bendoukou, Sandare district, Kayes Region, Mali, sprays of shiny black crystals, from 1½” by 1" for $12, to 2" by 1" and bigger for $16 and $20. Pieces with two or more sprays intersecting one another at interesting angles about 2½” by 2½” for $16, $20, and $24.

POLISHED QUARTZ CRYSTALS, Brazil, mostly clear but always with some inclusions-imperfections inside, cut flat on the bottom so they stand us nicely. About 2.5" to 3" high and 2" to 2.5" wide for $32, and slightly larger for $40. They look great on our ROTATING LED LIGHT STAND These are great for showing off translucent crystals like large quartz crystals, and even glass and other objects. They come with LED lights that continually change color while the base slowly rotates, creating a wonderful display. (LED lights will last for 100,000 hours.) The stand comes with a power adapter. These were $50 when we first saw them a few years ago! Rotating LED Light Stand $29.

“LEMURIAN SEED QUARTZ,” Brazil. We also picked out some large, natural, clear quartz crystals, about 5" to 5.5" long and 1.5" to almost 3" wide, for $50, $60, $90, and $130, by size.

PYRITIZED AMMONITE FOSSILS, Mikhailov, Russia, pairs from about 1¼” to 1½” high to 2” wide and 2¼” high for $60, only 3 pairs left. These are suitable as specimens or for wire wrap or other jewelry– Cheryl could wrap one or both halves for $35 each in gold-filled or sterling silver wire for a unique gift.
