May 2000

Club members were fascinated by the twinned specimen of Staurolite from Keivy, Kola Peninsula, Russia. The write-up explained how twin crystals form and the lore of this unique mineral.

June 2000

We featured sprays of attractive Aragonite, our first mineral from Morocco. Members learned about polymorphs and pseudo-crystal forms from the write-up.

July 2000

This was a very special month as we featured California Jade from Jade Cove in Big Sur. We still get polished pieces from time to time of this hard-to-find stone! The write-up delved into worldwide jade sources and the mystique of this marvelous gem/mineral!

August  2000

Dravite was the second member of the tourmaline family to be featured in our Club. Club members were delighted by the quality of both the specimen and the write-up.

September 2000

We featured lovely, small, gemmy red Spinel  on marble matrix from Myanmar (Burma). These will be very small but very sharp octahedral crystals. Very, very nice!

October 2000

This was another special month as we featured highly attractive crystal clusters of  Hemimorphite from Mexico. We explained in the write-up  what its name tells us about its crystal form!

November  2000

Jarosite from the famous Laurium mining district in Greece was our featured mineral. Each specimen had a number of minute glistening crystals on matrix. Our first featured mineral from Greece!

December 2000

Another exceptional month as we featured Celestite (aka celestine) from Madagascar, which ranks among the most strikingly beautiful of all minerals!
