Here is the information on our August 2011 featured mineral, Dolomite from
the Shangbao Pyrite mine, Leiyang County, Hengyang Prefecture, Hunan Province,
China. It's been quite a remarkable run of minerals we've featured these last
few months, and now for a change, we have available some of those extra large
specimens for Club members who love the big pieces!
Our Dolomite crystallizes as light, creamy pink rhombohedral crystals with
curved faces--the photos below give you an idea of their beauty. This curvature
is due to the way the dolomite crystallizes, as explained in the write-up.
This was one of the easier Emails to put together, as all the specimens are of
the same habit--the only real difference is the size! This gave us more time to
put together the attached Offer sheet with some additional/alternative minerals
for you to peruse, including several very rare minerals.

As always, we have Gold-level specimens available for $26.50. Gold-level
specimens are on matrix about 2.5" by 1.5" to 3" by 2".
Group 1 Dolomite specimens are on matrix about 3" by 2.5" to 4"
by 3" with an ample coverage of well-formed dolomite crystals, as seen in the
photo below. They are available for $30, $35, $40 and $45, according to size and
quality. We have about 50 of these.
Group 2 Dolomite specimens are on larger matrix, about 4" by 4"
to 5" by 5" and slightly larger, also with an ample coverage of well-formed
dolomite crystals, as seen in the photo below. They are available for $55, $65,
and $75, according to size and quality. We have about 20 of these.
Group 3 Dolomite specimens are on even larger matrix, about 6"
to 8" across and and 5" to 6" high, large showy pieces for $110, $135, $140,
$160, and $175, according to size and crystal quality/color. We have about ten
of these.
Group 4 Dolomite specimens are for those who want some thing
really big, a "decorator" style piece--over 10" by 10" for $125 and $150; and
over 1 foot across and about 1 foot high for $275. We have about six of these.

Most Platinum-size specimens will be in the $30--$100 price range, with the
option to purchase a larger/better piece for more, depending on the
size/quality/rarity/newness of the find of the monthly mineral. Some Platinum
Club members have indicated to us a size range and/or price range they would
prefer each month, and we are happy to work with them on it.
Platinum members always have the option of obtaining a regular Gold-level or
Silver-level specimen at the regular price, or of passing on that month's
mineral. Of course, all Platinum members get the same write-up, newsletter,
etc., as other members, even in months when they pass on the specimen.
